Day 45

31 May

I am having so much fun getting the office and store ready for business. I’ve spent all day organizing shelves, painting gate doors and furniture yellow. Our office colors are a deep forest green and a lighter green and a bright yellow. Love it, love it. Big day today getting the new wifi made more powerful. Should have a much better range of distance, so much so, we need a password. So….I had just reset the password and have given it out to the campers. Then a young girl came in and said she was staying with someone in the park and needed the password. Turned out she lied and wasn’t part of the campers. So….I changed the password, walked around the campground and gave out the new one and then the same girl comes into the office asking for the password. I told her I didn’t like that she lied to me and then we talked and she said she didn’t have any friends and that she was moving soon and she promised that she wouldn’t tell anyone the password. Of course, I’m giving her the benefit of doubt. Apparently when the tech was here, he deleted an account that the people who live close by had been using because it was unsecured. We are now secure in the office with our own pw and the park has their own.
Denny was busy busting up concrete and then pouring more concrete for the ramp into the Game Room. He said his hands hurt. My foot was pretty sore from being on it a lot, but still feels like it is healing.
Nancy came in for a visit today and it was good to see her. We had dinner with Don and Mitzi at the La Veta Inn. Now it is 12:44 am and I’m heading to bed. Was trying to print out bear information and found a nice brochure that I could print out, so I got all that kind of stuff done. All of a sudden feeling very tired to heading to bed.

Day 44 of being owners of an rv park

29 May

Just finished another productive day of organizing the office business. Enjoyed walking through town finding out hours of operation from all the businesses. Have spent several hours typing up useful information for our campers ie.; restaurants, hospitals, golf courses, shops. Think I have it finally done. Actually took up 2 1/2 pages. Also went to the bank to get set up for online banking. They are already familiar with me due to weird deposits. No campers in today, it’s very windy so many may have stopped early in the day. Still is good at this point so we can both finish what we are doing without too many interuptions. I think Doo-dah Finn, alias Zada, is just about done with the dog park painting. We are trying to think of a cute name for the park. Can’t wait for photo so you can see the finished product. Ricky stopped by to say hi and check out the place. He didn’t realize how much was here.
Today I had to seriously drink plenty of fluids. Last night, we were watching tv and I got a funny foot cramp. Next thing I knew, my foot was turning backward!!! I knew immediately I was way dehydrated. Pretty soon my shins, both feet, the back of my legs were going all sorts of directions. I guzzled down a Gatorade, then started on another, took a valium, usually you take a muscle relaxer at this point, drank some more water and then crawled into bed and tried not to move. Woke up about 4 hours later with feet turning backwards again and drank another Gatorade, water and a valium. Was able to go back to sleep. Then woke up and started drinking and so far so good for the day. That is so scary. I may just have to start walking around with an iv drip!
Excited that I received a box of art projects from my friend Genelle, who lives in Naco, for my shop. Denny painted the shelves yellow today so should be able to start putting out items tomorrow afternoon.
Denny is now working on a cement ramp. He has broken away the old concrete and is pouring new concrete tomorrow. Whew! Think I’m done for the day. Really enjoying my little duties.

Officially a RV Park worker

28 May

Oh my goodness, what a few days it has been.
Saturday, Judy and I left for La Veta at 9 am. We were good traveling companions, switched off a few times and we each had little snoozes. The VW did great and was very comfortable to travel in. We arrived around 6 pm. We went to dinner and La Veta was very busy with an Art Walk, so saw several friends. After dinner, we all hit the sack to be ready for a full day of work on Sunday.
Denny continued work on the dog park, which is going to be so cute. Judy and I worked in the office doing various tasks. Had several visitors and friends stop by. Not that many campers in the park, maybe 15 for the weekend. A little scary, but beginning this next weekend, we really pick up. So, it’s really a little better that we are slow because we can finish getting most of the things we need done finished. My main job is getting the office set up and the Bird’s Nest ready. Sunday night we had dinner with George, up at the Timbers. It was wonderful to see him. He was our rv driver during the 6 week bicycle trip. The meal was good but the waitress did a funny thing. She was describing where the beef came from for the steaks. She said “The beef is raised here in Colorado and also slaughtered in Colorado!.” We had a good laugh with that one and suggested she maybe use a little different term. Once again, bed early and then Judy and I had major training on my bookkeeping system. I think I’m comfortable with it and it is very cool. Unfortunately, for my only customer for the night, I totally messed up doing the credit card and totally messed up printing the receipt, but he was very patient and I was able to figure it all out. We took Judy to the train and then I spent the evening really cleaning up my office area and now feel very organized behind the desk.
Today I’m ordering business cards and signage for the office. Denny is in Pueblo purchasing many things. When he gets home, I’m going out on Hwy 12 to paint the arrow red on the sign. Also will begin painting the shelves in the office.
We have a new missionary person today, Zada. She volunteered to come and paint our new fencing red. I cannot say again how we truly would not have been this far along without all of friends who have volunteered, (well maybe we volunteered some of them), to help out. The whole park is shaping up.
When I walked out of the RV on Sunday morning, I felt like I had just returned home from a long trip.
Meeko and Jumper are being fun. They like being in the office with me and they greet the customers by jumping all around. They are pretty noisy in the backyard when others are walking their pets. That would be pretty bad if we have the most obnoxious dogs in the park!
That’s it for now. Feet feeling pretty good, stomach is totally swollen up from eating breakfast out. We are now starting to eat our meals in as of today.

Day 39, last day at Lake Wabaunsee

24 May

Billie’s out here spending the night. She arrived just in time. After 2 days of not enough sleep and too much caffeine and sugar, I was getting ready to freak. I was in the studio trying to pack a few things up, and I was suddenly extremely overwhelmed. How was I ever going to get everything done and be able to leave by 9 am in the morning. I went back in the house, called Denny, called my sister, tried to breathe, etc. Fixed dinner when Billie arrived and now feel a little more grounded. The house is picked up and we’ll do last minute vacuuming and touch ups and lock the doors in the morning. Very excited to get to La Veta tomorrow night. Judy is going to ride out with me. The little yellow bug will be very full.
I think we’ll try to make a coin purse tonight, a bear, and then I’m packing the machine and all the materials and set it all aside for a few weeks. I’ve got plenty to do and don’t need to obsessing about micro heating pads and animal coin purses.
Kathy and Doug picked me up last night and took me to Wamego for dinner at the La Hacienda. There were about 15 of us and it was really fun. Cheryl made a sign for us out cut up license plates spelling out Circle the Wagons. I’ll try to post a photo of it. It is really cool. After I got home, Anna came over and we did another coin purse and were up until 12:30 finishing it. Will also try to post that too.
Thats it for now. Now the posts will be from the rv park.Cant figure out photos. When I get back on my computer I’ll be able to do my photos easier.
Good news on feet, right foot good after cortisone shot, left foot a little better each day. Is it possible that I could actually be pain free in the near future!!!!!!

Day 37-38, only 2 days until I move

23 May

Starting to get really excited. Yesterday was the day the trailer was delivered. U Pack It is a cool company. You load your own stuff first. Then they pick up the trailer and take it somewhere where they will load it up with freight that needs to go to Colorado. When they unload the freight they will bring our stuff to LaVeta.
Yesterday was also project day. I made 2 more Ipad and Nook bags. Also made 2 more micro bags. My friend Anna came over and trimmed over 100 notecard, folded them and boxed them up for me. Huge help because I wouldn’t have been able to stand that long. We were supposed to work on coin purses tonight are going to do that in the morning. Had too long of a day; training on Quickbooks, foot doctor, quilt store with Cindy, WalMart, taking older man who was out of gas on the highway into Eskridge for gas and taking him back to his truck, and then finally home. Could barely make it into the house. Had a cortisone shot in my right foot and for some reason it really throbbed for several hours. Easing up now and hopefully it will feel much better tomorrow. He also said that my left foot is doing great and should really feel better in 4 weeks. Will begin stretching it. Whew will be glad when this foot nightmare will be over.
